KATHMANDU: Key opposition and parliamentary leaders have joined an all-party meeting convened by the ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) at Singha Durbar to discuss the ongoing deadlock in the Federal Parliament.
Those attending the meeting include Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party leader Bhishmaraj Angdembe, CPN-UML Chief Whip Ain Bahadur Mahar, Nepali Communist Party co-coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal, NCP leader Barshaman Pun, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairman Rajendra Lingden.
However, the Shram Sanskriti Party has boycotted the meeting, becoming the only parliamentary party to stay away from the talks.
The meeting was called by RSP Chair Rabi Lamichhane in an effort to build consensus among political parties and find a solution to the prolonged parliamentary impasse.
Although political parties represented in Parliament were invited to send their top leaders along with one additional representative, several major parties chose to be represented by senior leaders rather than their party chiefs.
The discussions are expected to focus on restoring normal parliamentary proceedings and resolving disputes that have disrupted the functioning of both houses of the Federal Parliament.
