Conflict victims protest flawed provisions in bill to amend transitional justice act

KATHMANDU: Conflict victims have protested in Kathmandu stating that the bill to amend the transitional justice act contains flawed provisions.

Stating that there is a provision in the bill to give immunity to perpetrators, they demanded that the law should be made in order to give justice to the victims.

Nepal Maoist Victims’ Association, conflict victims and the civil society at Maitighar in Kathmandu on Sunday displayed placards that read ‘Involve victims in amendment process’, ‘Bill that condones impunity is unacceptable’, ‘flawed provisions of the bill should be repealed’, among others.

They said that they had to oppose the new law because it caused them to suffer more.
