KATHMANDU: Deputy Superintendent of Police, Ramesh Singh has been sentenced to 8 months imprisonment and a fine of Rs 15,000 on the charge of taking a job by obtaining fake citizenship.
With the conviction, his job has also gone.
DSP Singh was found guilty by the special court in Kathmandu.
The full text of the earlier decision was made public on Thursday.
The bench of Special Court Judges Srikant Paudel, Shaligram Koirala, and Balabhadra Bastola found them guilty.
Although Singh’s date of birth was 1975, he made the year 1976 and took the character certificate of School Living Certificate accordingly. Based on that, the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) investigated him after finding him using citizenship for getting a job.
He applied to join the police inspector in December 2001. But the Public Service Commission released the results only in 2004. He was convicted after it was found that he was over 25 years of age when he applied for entry.
