SC hearing writs filed against President Bhandari today



KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) is hearing the writ petitions filed against the President’s denial to authenticate the Citizenship Bill today (Friday).

The writ has been scheduled for today.

Advocate Sunil Ranjan Singh, Sarita Thapa, Sagar Baral, Dev Sharma and others filed the writ against the President for not certifying the Bill.

Clause (4) of Article 113 of the Constitution stipulates that the President must carry out mandatory authentication of the Bill that has been sent to the President’s Office for the second time.

But the 15-day period that President Bhandari should have completed the certification expired at midnight on Tuesday.
