Nepal imports petroleum products worth Rs 150 billion in eight months



KATHMANDU: Nepal imported diesel, petrol and LPG gas worth Rs 150 billion in the first eight months of the current fiscal year 2021/22.

According to the Department of Customs sources, Nepal imported diesel, petrol and LPG worth Rs 168.33 billion in eight months.

In the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year 2020/21, diesel, petrol and LPG gas worth Rs 87.71 billion was imported to Nepal from India.

Compared to the previous year, in the first eight months of this year, Nepal has imported more than Rs 80.61 billion. The amount spent to import diesel, petrol and LPG gas last year has been spent to import diesel alone this time.

Diesel tops the list of the petroleum products imported in the first eight months of the current fiscal year. Nepal has already imported diesel worth Rs 87.83 by this time.

As per the customs record, Nepal imported LPG worth Rs 40.64 billion from India in the first eight months of this fiscal year.

After the start of the current fiscal year, by mid-March, Nepal has purchased and brought petrol worth Rs. 39.85 billion from India.

According to the department, Nepal had imported diesel, petrol and LPG gas worth Rs 160.54 billion last fiscal year.
