KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Poudel has said the teachings of Lord Krishna remain equally relevant and valuable in contemporary society.
In a message of wishes on the occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami on Thursday, President Poudel wished all Nepalis happiness, peace and good health.
He said the festival is celebrated by worshipping Lord Krishna, who is revered for his contribution to the preservation and development of Sanatan Dharma and culture and for spreading messages of duty, action, love, ethics and knowledge that hold enduring significance for human life.
Shri Krishna Janmashtami is observed across the country by worshipping Lord Krishna, with the Krishna Temple in Patan, Lalitpur, among the major centres of celebration.
President Poudel said Lord Krishna’s teachings on selfless action, steadfastness in truth, justice and righteousness, purity of mind, selfless conduct and commitment to one’s duties remain highly relevant in the present day.
He expressed hope that the festival would strengthen mutual harmony and inspire people to pursue good deeds while fostering emotional unity in Nepal’s multi-ethnic, multilingual, multi-religious and multicultural society.
President Poudel also wished that Janmashtami would inspire people to build a more civilised and cultured society by promoting harmony, compassion, righteous action, spiritual discipline and friendship.
