‘Born with Pride’ conference to be held in Kathmandu



KATHMANDU: The Regional Office South Asia of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF), in collaboration with the Samriddhi Foundation, Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Kathmandu and the German Nepal Friendship Association, is holding a two-day-long Born with Pride Conference in Kathmandu from 27-28 September.

Nepal is chosen as a venue for the conference because of its progress in protecting the rights of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex and Asexual (LGBTQIA+) community, a statement issued by the Embassy of Germany in Kathmandu said today.

The primary objective of the conference is to engage in conversation with multiple stakeholders such as LGBTQIA+ communities, politicians, activists, academicians, lawyers, organizations and civil society, it said.

As many as 21 speakers from 7 South Asian Countries as well as from Europe and the Tibetan community are attending the 2 days-long event.
