ACC Women’s T20 Championship: Nepal enters semifinals beating Bahrain

KATHMANDU: Nepal has entered the semifinals of the ACC Women’s T20 Championship.

Nepal defeated Bahrain by 8 wickets in their third match of the group stage on Monday.

The team completed the normal target of 15 runs set by Bahrain by losing 2 wickets in 3.4 overs.

Sita Rana Magar and Kabita Joshi scored 4 and 3 runs respectively for Nepal. Nepal added 8 runs from extra.

Earlier, after losing the toss at the Kinrara Academy Oval, Bahrain had scored 14 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the stipulated 7 overs.

Kabita Kunwar and Sabnam Rai took 2-2 and Asmina Kamacharya took 1 wicket for Nepal.

The game was scheduled to start at 8:15 am. But due to rain, the game could not start on time and was shortened to 7-7 overs.

In the first match of the group stage, Nepal defeated Bhutan by 50 runs. In the second match, Kuwait was defeated by 25 runs.

With this victory, Nepal is at the top of Group B with 6 points from 3 games.

Similarly, second-place Hong Kong has added 4 points from 2 games.

Kuwait and Bahrain are tied at 1-1 while Bhutan is at the bottom with no points.

Group A includes UAE, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar and Singapore.

The two finalists will play in the Asia Cup Women’s T20 cricket tournament.
