Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II to be honored with a full state funeral today



LONDON: Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II, will be honored with a full state funeral at Westminster Abbey today.

Her state funeral will be held on Monday at Westminster Abbey, and is expected to last for an hour.

The public mourning period will continue across the country for a week after the funeral, reports said.

After the state funeral, the Queen’s funeral procession will leave for Wellington Arch, where the casket will be placed in a hearse that will head to the Windsor Castle, reports said.

In the evening, there will be a family service during which the Queen’s body will be buried with her late husband, King George VI Memorial Chapel, in a small chapel, inside the St George’s Chapel.

Meanwhile, BBC reported that King Charles said he had been “deeply touched” by public support for him and his family.

Foreign royals and world leaders will join the Queen’s family for a service that will be watched by hundreds of millions globally, according to BBC.

Schools will remain closed, as will many shops and other businesses.
