Nepal defeats Kuwait in ACC Women’s T20 Championship



KATHMANDU: Nepal has won the ACC Women’s T20 tournament for the second time in a row.

In Saturday’s match played in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Nepal defeated Kuwait by 25 runs.

Following the 108-run target set by Nepal at the Kinara Oval, Kuwait lost seven wickets in 20 overs and managed to score only 82 runs.

Priyada Murali contributed 31 runs for Kuwait. Marima Heather scored 15 runs and captain Amna Tariq scored 14 runs.

On the bowling side, Sita Ranamagar took two wickets for Nepal. Ashmina Karmacharya, Sangeeta Rai and Indu Burma took one wicket each.

Earlier, losing the toss and batting first, Nepal scored 107 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

Captain Rubina Chhetri contributed 34 runs for Nepal. Similarly, Indu Burma scored 28 runs while Jyoti Pandey added 15 runs. Bindu Rawal of Nepal contributed 11 runs.

On the bowling side, Marima Heather took two wickets for Kuwait. Mariam Omar and Khadila Khazil took one wicket each.

With the victory, Nepal has added 4 points in 2 games retaining the top position in Group B. Today’s victory has made Nepal’s chances of reaching the semi-finals further stronger. Nepal will now play Bahrain on Monday and Hong Kong on Tuesday.
