Oli government lacks memorable achievement: Unified Socialist leader Khanal

KATHMANDU: Respected leader of CPN (Unified Socialist) Jhalnath Khanal has said that the KP Oli led government did not have any memorable achievement.

Addressing at the last meeting of the House of Representatives on Saturday, Khanal said the Oli government could not do anything although it had a relatively peaceful opposition.

Comparing the Oli government to the government led by the first communist Prime Minister Manmohan Adhikari, Khanal alleged Oli-led two-thirds majority government was unable to do anything worth remembering.

“Though Manmohan Adhikari’s government was a minority one, we still remember the leader through programs such as ‘Build your own village’ and ‘Honor to senior citizens’ among others,” Khanal said.

“What was a memorable work of Oli government that was 10 to 20 times more stronger than Manmohan Adhikari’s?” he questioned.

“Do we remember Oli for Dharahara or Ranipokhari? But didn’t Pratap Mall make Ranipokhari! Bhimsen Thapa might have built the Dharahara? Is the repairer remembered or the creator? Everyone knows it,” Khanal said.

He said Manmohan Adhikari should have been remembered for fostering the communists but the same was not done.

Khanal claimed that the Oli government collapsed after it took to unilateral ways despite the then opposition Nepali Congress being a much calmer force.
