No space for monarchy in Nepal: RPP Chairman Thapa

KATHMANDU: Chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Nepal Kamal Thapa has said that there is no chance of restoring monarchy in Nepal.

Wishing the RPP leaders and cadres happy new year through social media on Saturday, former RPP Chairman Thapa remarked that despite being sympathetic to the monarchy, he has concluded that there is no future of monarchy in Nepal.

“I left the agenda of restoration of monarchy for various reasons. Sadly, the possibility of the king’s return is now over,” he said, adding, “If one political party fails, another will replace it, but there is no chance of giving space to the monarchy.”

Thapa who deserted RPP and joined Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Nepal  said that though there were reasons for the restoration of the king, the former King has closed the path himself.

He urged the RPP leaders and cadres to concentrate on the agenda of ‘hindu nation’ and not to let it being shadowed by the agenda of restoration of monarchy.

Thapa-led RPP-Nepal has agreed to form alliance with KP Oli-led CPN-UML in the local elections. As per the agreement, RPP Nepal will contest under the UML’s election symbol the sun.
