Vote counting halted after finding ballot paper sans signature



KATHMANDU:  After finding the ballot papers sans signature in Mahalaxmi-10, Lalitpur, the vote counting has been stopped.

There was a controversy after 55 ballot papers were found without the signature of the electoral officer on Sunday.

District Election Officer Goma Dhamala Ghimire informed that the counting was stopped as the dispute was escalating.

“After 55 ballot papers without signatures were found during the counting of votes in Ward No. 10, we have asked to stop the counting,” said Nepali Congress leader Sudarshan Ghimire.

According to District Election Officer Ghimire, an all-party meeting is underway to resolve the dispute.

Out of 1,498 votes counted in the municipality, CPN-UML has got 466 votes and Maoist Center 467 in the mayoral post. Similarly, UML has got 612 votes and NC 407 votes in the contest for deputy mayor.
