KATHMANDU: Nepal has lost to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in a one-day cricket match held in Kathmandu today.
Nepal lost to the UAE by 84 runs in the match held at TU cricket ground in Kirtipur.
Chasing a target of 264 runs set by the visitors, Nepal lost 9 wickets in 50 overs and ended up with only 179 runs on the board.
Dipendra Singh Airi and Arjun Saud scored 54 and 51 runs respectively. It was the debut one-day international for Saud.
Other notable contributor for the Nepali team was Gulshan Jha who remained unbeaten on 19 runs.
For the UAE, Afzal Khan took 4 wickets, Basil Hamid took 2 and Jahore Khan, Rohan Mustafa and Ahmed Raja took one wicket each.
Earlier, put into bat after losing the toss, the UAE scored 263 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 50 overs.
Rohan Mustafa top-scored for the UAE with 53 runs while Mohammad Wasim scored 44 runs.
Similarly, Vritya Arvind scored 40 runs, Alishan Sharafu scored 29 runs and Ahmed Raja scored 27 unbeaten runs.
Ayan Hafzal Khan added 26 runs. Nepal’s Gulshan Jha took 2 wickets while Sompal Kami and Dipendra Singh Airi took one wicket each.
With this win, the UAE has taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match international one-day series.
The second one-day international match between the two teams will be held at the same ground November 16.
