Country’s economic status determines employees’ perks and facilities, NA Chairman Timilsina says

Chairman of National Assembly (NA) Ganesh Prasad Timilsina has said that issues of perks and facilities of the government employees would be addressed in line with the country’s status and economic situation.
Addressing an event organized by the Federal Parliament Secretariat on the occasion of Parliament Service Day today, Timilsina assured that the demands of the employees would be met with the positive changes in the country’s economic situation.

Jajarkot jeep mishap: Death toll reaches 12

The number of passengers killed in a jeep accident in Jajarkot on Monday afternoon has reached 12.

Among the dead ones, eight victims are from the same ward. Those killed in the accidents were Man Bahadur Rawat (driver) from Bhagawatimai Rural Municipality-2 of Dailekh and helpers to driver Birendra KC and Ammar Khada from ward no 3 of same rural municipality.

Similarly, Dipak Adhikari, Nainasara Adhikari, Jaikubara Budha, Ram Bahadur Budha, Devisara Budha, Amar Adhikari, Nisha Adhikari from Chhedagad Municipality-5 died in the incident. Jaivan Adhikari, injured in the incident, died while being treated at Surkhet based Province Hospital.

The District Police Office, Jajarkot further informed that Bir Bahadur Khatri from Chhedagad-6 also died in the incident.

Parliament should not enact laws without adequate discussion: Former Chief Justice Shrestha

Former Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha has said that Parliament should not enact laws without adequate discussion on it.

Taking part in an interaction program entitled ‘Role of Parliament in the Promotion of the Rule of Law,’ in Kathmandu on Tuesday, the Former Chief Justice complained that the Parliament has been enacting many laws without adequate discussion.

Suspended Chief Justice Rana retiring today

Suspended Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana is retiring today.

He resumed office on 2 January, 2019 after taking the oath of office and secrecy.

On 13 February, 2022, Rana faced an impeachment motion accusing him of failure to discharge his official responsibilities.

Following this, he pleaded by filing an application at the Parliament Secretariat, on December 6, urging it to declare the impeachment motion against him ineffective.

Narayangadh-Muglin road to halt four hours a day

Traffic along the Narayangadh-Muglin road will be halted for four hours a day to construct bridges.

A meeting of the stakeholders today at the district administration office took a decision to halt traffic along the road for one month to build bridges, it has been said. The transport halt is scheduled between 11 am and 3 pm. However, emergency vehicles like ambulance and fire engines will be allowed as per the need, it has been decided.

Cutting hills at Simaltal, Kalikhola, Tuine Khola and Chisenji will take place, said Chief District Officer Ashman Tamang. Passenger buses, mini and microbuses and light vehicles will be barred from plying along Pandhrakilo Bazaar and Jugedi between the time period, he said.

Supreme Court Bar objects to new ordinance, demands instant withdrawal

The Supreme Court Bar Association has objected the government’s decision to bring an ordinance to amend the civil criminal procedure with the aim of withdrawing serious criminal cases.

Issuing a statement on Tuesday, the Bar protested against the ‘interim’ government’s amendment of the law and plan to withdraw serious cases pending in the court.

Election Commission likely to submit report of election results to President by Wednesday

The Election Commission (EC) is considering to submit the report of the election results to President Bidya Devi Bhandari by Wednesday.

The EC is making final preparations to announce the final list of elected members of the House of Representatives and the Provincial Assembly, and issue certificates to them, Guru Prasad Wagle, EC spokesperson said.

According to the principle of inclusiveness, the EC will probably declare the names of the members under the Proportional Representation (PR) sent by the parties today.

As many as 110 members are being elected under the PR system to the House of Representatives and 220 to the Provincial Assembly.

The results of 165 constituencies in the Federal Parliament have already come.

He said that the EC is working to submit the final vote result report to the President by Wednesday.

After receiving the final report, the President will then call for the formation of a new government.

Nepal sees two new coronavirus cases in 24 hours, active cases confine to 17

Nepal recorded a total of two new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours as of Tuesday.

The confirmed two cases was detected through the RT-PCR method.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a total of 1,604 swab samples were tested in the past 24 hours.

Of the confirmed cases, 387 were tested through RT-PCR method and 1217 through Antigen method.
