Ruling coalition holding meeting to discuss issue of rebel candidates

KATHMANDU: Top leaders of the ruling coalition are holding a meeting this afternoon to discuss the issue of rebel candidates and the status of the ministers of the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP).

The meeting to be held this afternoon at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar will discuss the status of the JSP ministers after the party left the ruling coalition and aligned with the CPN-UML.

According to Baluwatar sources, the meeting will discuss the issue of rebel nominations from various parties of the ruling coalition in the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly in different constituencies of the country and what to do with the ministers in the government after the JSP quit the coalition.

The meeting will discuss whether the parties should ask the JSP ministers to resign or dismiss them.

The JSP has four ministers in the Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba-led government.

The JSP ministers in the government include Pradeep Yadav as Forest Minister; Mohammad Ishtiaq Raie as Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister; Rajendra Kumar Shrestha as Federal Affairs and General Administration Minister; and Mrigendra Kumar Singh as Agriculture Minister.
