Gujarat defeat Lucknow to climb atop IPL points table

KATHMANDU: Gujarat Titans have climbed atop the points table by defeating Lucknow Super Giants by 62 runs in a cricket match held under the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Tuesday night.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Gujarat notched up 144 runs losing four wickets in the allotted 20 overs. While chasing the target of 145 runs, Lucknow was all out for 82 runs in 14 overs.

Gujarat’s Shubman Gill topped the score with 63 runs followed by David Miller and Rahul Tewatia with 26 and 22 runs respectively.

In reply, Lucknow’s Avesh Khan took two wickets from Gujarat while Jason Holder and Mohsin Khan took one wicket each.

Lucknow was bowled out for 82 runs while it was chasing the 145-run target. Deepak Hooda and Quinton de Kock made 27 and 11 runs respectively for Lucknow while the other batsmen could not reach double-digit runs.

To restrict Lucknow, Gujarat’s Rashid Khan grabbed the highest four wickets while Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore and Yash Dayal claimed two wickets each.

With this win, Gujarat have climbed atop the points table with 18 points. Lucknow are in the second position with 16 points.
