18-pt deal sealed on KMC’s waste management; garbage be collected from today

KATHMANDU: An 18-point agreement has been reached between the Kathmandu Metropolitan City and local people’s representatives on waste management in the Valley.

The agreement was reached between the Kathmandu Metropolitan City and local people’s representatives at midnight on Thursday midnight after residents of Sisdol in Nuwakot obstructed the dumping of garbage in defiance of the agreement reached earlier.

As per the deal, it has been agreed to dump garbage only at night. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by Kathmandu Metropolitan Chief Balendra Shah, Deputy Chief Sunita Dangol, and Chief Administrative Officer Lekhnath Poudyal.

Similarly, Pad Bahadur Shrestha, chairman of ward no. 1 of Kakani rural municipality, Tilak Bahadur Lama, chairman of ward no. 2, and Chairman of Dhadingbesi rural municipality-2 Prakash Hamal have signed the agreement.

It has been claimed that garbage in the Valley will be disposed of from Friday after the agreement.
