IPL: Chennai defeats Delhi by 91 runs



KATHMANDU: Defending Champions Chennai Super Kings defeated Delhi Capitals by 91 runs in a match under the Indian Premier League (IPL) played at DY Patil Cricket Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday night.

While chasing Chennai’s target of 209 runs, Delhi were bowled out for 117 in 17 overs with four balls to spare.

Mitchell Marsh topped the score with 25 runs for Delhi. Similarly, Shardul Thakur scored 24 runs while Rishabh Pant hit 21 runs.

In reply, Moeen Ali took 3 wickets for Chennai while Mukesh Chaudhary, Simarjeet Singh and Dwayne Bravo took 2/2 wickets each.

Earlier, invited to bat first, Chennai notched up 208 runs losing six wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Devon Conway scored 87 runs for Chennai, while Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube 41 and 32 runs respectively.

Anrich Nortje of Delhi took 3 wickets, Khaleel Ahmed grabbed 2 wickets and Mitchell Marsh claimed 1 wicket.

With this win, Chennai are eighth in the points table with 8 points from 11 games.

Delhi are in the 5th position with 10 points from equal 11 games.
