CAN suspends national cricket team captain Lamichhane

KATHMANDU: Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has suspended the national team captain Sandeep Lamichhane.

The move comes after the national team captain was accused of raping a minor and an arrest warrant being issued against him.

According to CAN Acting Secretary Prashant Vikram Malla, a meeting of CAN performance committee held on Thursday decided to suspend Lamichhane from the national team.

A 17-year-old girl had filed a complaint against Lamichhane at the Metropolitan Police Circle, Gaushala, on Tuesday.

Earlier, Kathmandu District Court issued an arrest warrant against the cricketer.

Lamichhane is currently in West Indies playing the Caribbean League.
