KATHMANDU: Former Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Kamal Thapa has parted ways with the party.
Interacting with reporters in Hetauda on Tuesday, Thapa said, “My 31-year-old relationship with the party has ended from today. I am no more with the RPP.”
Thapa recently lost the post of RPP chair to leader Rajendra Lingden in the party’s unity general convention. Following the defeat, he pointed finger towards Nirmal Niwas – alleging the former Royals’ intervention behind his loss.
Issuing a statement Tuesday, he clarified that he had to part ways since his demand of ridding the party of wrong tendencies and ideological fractures were not heard.
The statement said he had decided to leave the party with a heavy heart amid a lot of pain.
Meanwhile, incumbent RPP Chair Lingden said Thapa’s exit was unfortunate.
