Nepali economy to grow by 5.1 percent in 2022/23: World Bank

The World Bank has forecast the Nepali economy to grow by 5.1percent in the fiscal year 2022/23 and 4.9 percent in 2023/24.

The Work Bank forecast is based on normalization of monetary policy, the end of pandemic-era monetary support measures, and still relatively high commodity prices.

“A rebound in tourism is projected to support Nepal’s services sector and industrial growth is expected to be strong due to increased hydroelectricity production,” the World Bank said in its latest macroeconomic update.

Israeli trekker rescued from Gosaikunda

An Israeli trekker, who got injured while trekking to Gosainkunda, was rescued and airlifted to Kathmandu.

Efrat Rojenstreick Klivanski, 58, who got injured after slipping to the ground while trekking, was rescued and taken to Kathmandu on a helicopter of Air Dynasty, according to the Rasuwa hospital.

Seat allocation among ruling parties for HoR election near final

The allocation of seats among the ruling parties for the election of House of Representatives (HoR) has reached the final stage.

The Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) has however walked out the five-party alliance.

It took time for the alliance to finalize seat allocation due to JSP, according to five-party taskforce member and leader of the Rastriya Janamorcha, Him Lal Puri.

The meeting of the top leaders of the ruling parties on Friday discussed how it could finalize the report of the taskforce.

Leader Puri informed that the seat allocation for HoR was almost finalized and discussion was now on Provincial Assembly election.

Deceased of Bara bus accidents identified

The death toll in the passenger bus accident that took place on Thursday at the Amlekhganj road section of Bara under the East-West Highway has reached 18.

With the death of a girl and a woman who were being treated at Chitwan Medical College in Bharatpur, the death toll has reached 18.

The identity of all deceased has been ascertained by police.

Three of same family killed in landslide at Kathmandu’s Chandragiri

Three persons of the same family have died after their shelter was buried by rain-triggered landslide at Chandragiri, Kathmandu last night.

The landslide buried the Dhyan Kendra where they had been sheltering. The Kendra is located near Deurali, on the way to Masine in Chandragiri Municipality-2, said Bhai Krishna Tamang, the chairperson of Chandragiri Municipality-2.

Tamang said those killed in the disaster are 52-year-old Raju Shrestha, his wife 45-year-old Geeta Shrestha and their 18 months old daughter, Sarathi.

The Shrestha family originally from Dhulikhel Municipality-12, Kavre had been living in the Dhyan Kendra.

RPP concludes candidacies for polls

Rastriya Prajatantra Party has concluded candidacies for the November 20 elections to the House of Representatives and the Province Assembly.

Out of the name list of approximately 700 candidates sent by the party district working committees across the country, the central leadership selected 165 under the HoR, and 330 under the Province Assembly, according to the party chair Rajendra Lingden.

Discussions between the top leadership of the RPP and the CPN (UML) for seat allocation were underway, and based on that, the respective district working committees can change candidacies, it has been said.

Water level in Bheri River crosses danger level, alert issued

The local administration has issued warning after the water level in the Bheri river has crossed danger level. In general, warning is issued when the water level reaches 4.5 meters.

At present, the water level was measured at 5.23 meters against danger level of 5 meters, said Chief District Officer Khagendra Prasad Rijal.

Following this, the Meteorological Forecasting Division has appealed to the people living in the river banks of the Bheri river and along the confluence of the Bheri and Karnali rivers from Rimna to Jamu to remain alert.
