KATHMANDU: The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case against Bindeshwor Sah Sudi, a surveyor at the Survey Office in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat-Susta West), accusing him of amassing property through illegal means.
The anti-graft body filed the charge sheet at the Special Court in Kathmandu on Tuesday.
According to the CIAA, Sudi accumulated Rs 37.18 million in illegal assets between 2046 BS and 2081 BS, the source of which he failed to establish.
The investigation found that Sudi had legitimate income of Rs 60.38 million during the period. However, his total expenditure and investments were found to amount to Rs 97.57 million, according to the commission.
CIAA spokesperson Suresh Neupane said Sudi’s wife, Sumitra Devi Sah, has also been named as a defendant for the purpose of confiscating the allegedly illegal assets, in accordance with the prevailing anti-corruption laws.
The case has been filed under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2017 and 2059, and the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority Act, 2048.
