Four Chinese carrying NRs 40 million undeclared cash arrested in Kathmandu check-point
In what can be termed as yet another unethical and illegal conduct of Chinese nationals in Nepal, four Chinese have been arrested on Tuesday with undeclared cash of Rs 40 million at Nagdhunga, a major check-point entering capital Kathmandu.
Nepal Police arrested them with the undeclared cash from a car they were traveling in at Nagdhunga, in Kathmandu in the course of regular screening.
According to police, Rs. 38.9 million in cash was recovered from four Chinese nationals and one Nepali national.
A joint team deployed by Nagdhunga Police and Narcotics Control Bureau recovered the amount from the trunk of BA B 5710 Subaru car arriving in Kathmandu from Nuwakot. The large cache of money had been hidden in plastic bags in the trunk of the car.
14 arrested in Nuwakot’s Sisdol for obstructing vehicles carrying garbage
Police have arrested 14 people, including the coordinator of the struggle committee, for trying to stop vehicles carrying garbage in Sisdol of Nuwakot.
Locals had obstructed the vehicles of Kathmandu Metropolis carrying garbage to Bancharedanda for dumping.
Nuwakot Police Chief Ram Prakash Shah said that those who obstructed waste management were arrested.
LSP leaders hand over memo to PM Deuba
The Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP) has handed over an 11-point memorandum to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba today demanding the withdrawal of cases of its leaders and cadres.
The 11-point memorandum has been submitted demanding the release of Resham Chaudhary who is currently serving a jail term, withdrawal of the cases leveled against the leaders and cadres of the party and the divulgence of the Lal Commission’s report.
Besides, it has also demanded to immediately control market and inflation which have gone unbridled.
Home Minister Khand briefs House about formation of probe panel into Bardiya incident
Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand has informed the House of Representatives (HoR) that a probe committee was formed to find out truth and fact about the incident of police firing in course of opening the obstructed postal highway in Bardiya.
Responding about the queries over the incident in Tuesday’s HoR meeting, Home Minister Khand said that a five-member committee was formed under coordination of Joint-Secretary of the Home Ministry, Hari Ghimire, to carry out investigation into the case.
Women’s T20 Cricket: Nepal out of World Cup qualifiers
Nepal is out of the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup after losing to Thailand on Tuesday.
Nepal lost to Thailand by 41 runs in the match played at UKM Oval in Malaysia under the T20 World Cup Asia Qualifiers.
After the defeat, Nepal’s chances of playing in the U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup to be held in South Africa next year have ended.
KMC Mayor Shah urges public to segregate waste at home
Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balendra Shah has sought the help of metropolis folks in the management of solid household waste and urged them to separate it at the source of its origin.
Kathmandu denizens have been urged to separate the biodegradable and non-degradable waste at the source before trash collectors pick them up. He took to a social network to appeal to the public towards that end.
As he said, the unsegregated waste would not be picked up by the metropolis.
NEPSE records significant loss of 45.59 points on Tuesday
The Share market index Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) has declined by 45.59 points on Tuesday.
The trading hours began as the NEPSE index opened at 2,065 points and at the end of the trading hours, the index closed at 2,020.23 points.
The Sensitive Index fell by 11.24 points to settle at 389 points at the end of this trading day.
The index had lost 12.89 points on Monday, the first trading day of the week.
