KATHMANDU: Nepal has won the second match of the one-day cricket series against Zimbabwe ‘A’ defeating the guest team by 9 wickets.

In the second ODI played against Zimbabwe at TU Cricket Ground on Saturday, Nepal met the Zimbabwe’s target of 88 runs at the loss of one wicket in 11 overs.

Sunil Dhamala who top-scored with 38, was followed by Asif Sheikh (34) and Binod Bhandari (38). Sunil hit six fours in 38 balls and added 38 runs. Asif hit six fours in 31 balls and added 34 runs.

Nepal won the toss and elected to field. Zimbabwe A managed to score only 87 runs in 31 overs with 5 balls to spare. Karan KC and Sompal Kami of Nepal took 3 wickets each when Sandeep Lamichhane took 2 wickets and Sagar Dhakal 1 wicket.

The third ODI of the series between Nepal and Zimbabwe will be played on May 9. In the previous T20 cricket series, Nepal had won one and lost the other. One T20 match was canceled due to rain.

Nepal is set to play a series against Zimbabwe ‘A’ team in preparation for the triangular one-day series under the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 to be held in the United States.
