KATHMANDU: The reshuffle of CPN (Unified Socialist) Ministers in government has fallen into limbo.
The Unified Socialist on Sunday called back its current Ministers and recommended new ones in their places. The new Ministers of the party were supposed to be sworn in today, Monday.
However, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba apparently refused to endorse and implement the Unified Socialist recommendations immediately in view of potential problems that could arise from the appointment of new ministers before the budget is passed.
The budget session of parliament has been ongoing for the past few weeks.
The Prime Minister viewed that the incumbent Ministers needed to respond to queries raised on budgetary provisions in the parliament and changing Ministers at this time could be problematic for the government.
Meanwhile, a meeting of top leaders of the ruling coalition also agreed not to rejig the cabinet immediately. The leaders held a meeting at PM’s residence in Baluwatar earlier Monday.
The party on Sunday recommended Jivan Ram Shrestha to replace Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Ale, Sher Bahadur Kunwar in place of Minister of Labor and Employment and Social Security Krishna Kumar Shrestha, Metmani Chaudhary to displace Minister of Urban Development Ram Kumari Jhankri and State Minister for Health Bhawani Khapung to be the full Minister and displace Birodh Khatiwada.
Similarly, the party recommended Hira KC to be the new Minister of State for Health and Population.
