We’ll draw world’s attention by declaring climate crisis: Minister Yadav



KATHMANDU: Minister for Forests and Environment Pradeep Yadav said that preparations were afoot to draw world’s attention by declaring climate crisis in Nepal.

Speaking in a program organized in Kathmandu on Monday, Minister Yadav said that Nepal was at high risks of climate change consequences, and thus the declaration would be made after an extensive consultation with experts and stakeholders to hog world’s attention towards Nepal.

Yadav asserted, “The impacts of climate change are taking place everywhere visually. Climate change is affecting Nepal’s mountain, agriculture and water resources. It’s high time we declare climate crisis in Nepal and draw world’s attention to it.”

The Ministry was at work to find out apt ‘modality’ to declare the climate crisis, for which it required fact-based evidences, he said, adding that to this effect, they were researching on ways and means. Climate change was evident and every one had taken cognizance of its impacts, he stated.
