Unified Socialist calls back current Ministers, recommends five new ones
The CPN-Unified Socialist has called back its current Ministers in government and recommended five new ones.
The Unified Socialist has already sent the names of the new ministers to the Prime Minister.
Earlier, Minister for of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Ale, Minister for Health and Population Birodh Khatiwada and other Ministers had reached the party office, where Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal told both incoming and outgoing ministers to take it as a natural process.
World facing brunt of climate change: PM Deuba
Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said the world is facing the brunt of climate change in the form of snowmelt, lake-burst, flooding and landslide.
As a result of climate change, people had to face various problems like a decline in biological diversity, interruption in agricultural system and crops, the occurrence of diseases, imbalances in rain and temperature and losses from natural disasters, said the PM in a message of best wishes on the occasion of the World Environment Day.
Nine killed as bus plunges into river in Rupandehi
KATHMANDU: At least nine people have been killed when a bus fell into the Rohini River on the Bhairahawa-Parasi road in the Rupandehi district.
As many as 23 people have been injured in the accident when a bus — Lu 2 Kha 3841 — heading towards Bhairahawa from Janakpur fell into the river breaking the railing of the bridge, local authorities have said.
DSP to decide on electoral coordination after announcement of state, federal polls
The Democratic Socialist Party (DSP) is to decide on forging electoral coordination only after the announcement of the date of the federal and state elections.
A meeting of DSP Central Executive Committee on Sunday reviewed the local elections and concluded that the local elections have not been satisfactory due to confusion over whether elections will be held – leading to poor preparation for the local elections.
Maoist Center to collect Rs 100 in levy from party members
The CPN (Maoist Center) will collect Rs 100 in levy from each party member with the aim of collecting funds to manage party central office and other creative works.
Money amounting to Rs 80 million is expected to be collected from the total 800,000 party members across the country.
Mayor Balen holds talks with Bagmati Chief Minister Pandey
Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen) on Sunday met with Bagmati Chief Minister Rajendra Pandey and held talks on various issues.
During the meeting, the two discussed issues related to waste management, good governance, service delivery and heritage protection in the coming days.
Mayor Balen has been active in political meetings lately.
Nepal starts selling additional 140MW electricity to India
KATHMANDU: Nepal has started selling additional 140MW of electricity generated by Kaligandaki A Hydropower Project to India.
The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) started selling additional electricity to India as Nepal started to generate surplus energy during this season.
The continuous rainfall in the country has increased the water levels in the rivers leading the power plants to generate more electricity.
