Sanam Shakya murder case: Gold smuggler Gore’s brother produced before court



BIRATNAGAR: Nepal police has presented Ramesh Upreti, brother of Chudamani Upreti aka ‘Gore’, in connection with the murder of Sanam Shakya and smuggling of 33 kg of gold, before District Court Morang on Wednesday.

According to police sources, Ramesh, who was arrested from Dubai with the help of Interpol and brought to Kathmandu yesterday (Tuesday), was brought to Biratnagar by the police today (Wednesday) and produced in court.

Ramesh will testify in court on Thursday and will be remanded in custody on the same day, the court said.

He had been living in the UAE after the gold smuggling case came to light.

Ramesh, who was accused of sending gold to Nepal from Dubai, was brought to Nepal from Dubai on Tuesday on an Air Arabia flight.
