Koshi menace: 2,400 families rescued

UDAYPUR: As many as 2,400 affected families have been rescued after the Saptakoshi river changed its course from Belka municipality-8 in Udaypur and entered the villages of the west coast region.

Armed Police Superintendent Krishnaraj Adhikari informed that 2,400 households in Belka Municipality-3 and Barahakshrestha Municipality-6 and 9 were rescued with the help of the Armed Police, Nepal Police, Nepali Army, and locals.

The search for the remaining missing persons is ongoing as the rescue operation continues from morning to evening.

No human casualties have been reported so far.

The settlements of Sunsari, Udaypur and Saptari were affected as the Saptakosi river returned to its old course after 34 years.
