KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has extended best wishes to all Nepali sisters and brothers living in the country and abroad on the occasion of the Gaura festival, 2079.

Giving a message of the best wishes today, President Bhandari wished the festival inspired all to preserve original culture of the country and end aberrations and social evils, thereby building a civilized, cultured and equitable society.

She wished peace, prosperity and happiness to all Nepalis. “Reunion of family members, receipt of the prasad of ‘biruda’, a special dish made out of beans and cereals, and entertainment with ‘deuda’ song and dance foster social harmony, love and affection,” President Bhandari said in the message, adding that it also contributes to national unity.
