Report on Darchula ‘tuin’ incident submitted to Home Minister



KATHMANDU: The committee formed to investigate the disappearance of Jay Singh Dhami of Darchula has submitted a report to the Home Ministry Tuesday.

The committee’s Coordinator Joint Secretary at Home Ministry Janardan Gautam handed over the report to Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand. However, what is in the report has not been formally disclosed.

The government had formed a five-member investigation committee led by Joint Secretary Gautam on August 1. Home Ministry Spokesperson Phanindra Mani Pokharel said that a brief statement in this regard would be made public shortly.

Jay Singh Dhami, 33, of Byas rural municipality-2 in Darchula district, went missing in the Mahakali river after, according to eyewitnesses, Indian Seema Surakshya Bal (SSB) cut the tuin (ropeway) that he was using to cross the river on July 30. He is still missing.
