SC issues short-term interim order staying Nepal Tourism Board CEO Regmi

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has issued a short-term interim order asking government not to enforce the decision to dismiss Nepal Tourism Board Chief Executive Officer Dr. Dhananjaya Regmi.

A single bench of Justice Deepak Kumar Karki passed the short-term order, a relief to Dr. Regmi.

SC has summoned both sides on January 17 further discussion on the issue.

Earlier, on December 17, a meeting chaired by Maheshwar Neupane, secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and chairman of the board, suspended Regmi and formed a committee to investigate him.

He had come into controversy after he allegedly assaulted the customs staff when they tried to check the liquor he had brought from abroad at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu.
