Govt increases budget in sports sector, Rs 2.74 billion allocated



KATHMANDU: The government has increased the budget for the sports sector for the coming fiscal year.

The government has allocated Rs. 2.74 billion to the Ministry of Youth and Sports in the budget of the Fiscal Year 2078/07.

Unveiling the budget for the fiscal year 2021/22 on Saturday, Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel said that Rs 2.74 billion has been allocated for the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The government has increased the budget for the sports sector for the new fiscal year. In the current fiscal year alone, a budget of Rs. 2.36 billion was allocated to the Ministry.

Finance Minister Poudel informed that the government has allocated budget in a budget to promote sports from the community level, build infrastructure and identify talented players.

Similarly, a budget has been allocated for the construction of Madan Bhandari Stadium in Jhapa and cricket stadiums including Mulpani and Lamahi, said Finance Minister Poudel.

Similarly, it has been mentioned that the construction work of Pokhara Stadium will be completed and the issue of providing soft loans to retired players has also been included in the budget.

Likewise, the budget has been allocated for the construction of the High Altitude Sports Center and the goal of economic development has also been taken through sports tourism.

The budget has been allocated for the ninth national sports competition to be organized in Gandaki.
