Nepal Police proposes deploying SSP-level chargés d’affaires in six countries and UN

KATHMANDU: Nepal Police has proposed to deploy chargé d’affaires, whose rank would be equivalent to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), in six countries and the United Nations (UN).

Nepal Police, making public its policy action plan at police headquarters in Naxal, Kathmandu, Monday, proposed the Ministry of Home Affairs to mobilize SPP-level chargé d’affaires.

Nepal Police Spokesperson SSP Basanta Bahadur Kunwar said the three-year Crime Control and Investigation Action Plan made public today proposed to establish police apparatus in different countries and develop intelligence gathering mechanisms in specialized areas of international crime investigation.

Deployment of charge d’affaires has been proposed in nations where population of Nepalis is high. Malaysia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, China, Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are the six countries where Nepal Police intends to deploy SSP-level subordinate diplomats.

Similarly, Nepal Police is of the view that placement of such high-ranking official is also necessary at the Office of Nepal’s Permanent Representative to the UN in New York, United States.

Nepal Police requested the Ministry of Home Affairs to take necessary initiative for placing SSP-level charge d’affaires in proposed nations and the UN.
