KATHMANDU: The main opposition party, CPN-UML has demanded the government to take ahead vaccination program effective to prevent COVID-19 infection, to make arrangements of relief and safe settlement to landslide, flood victims.
Similarly, the CPN (UML) also asked to forward the development construction activities started by the erstwhile government without any revenge.
During the special hour of today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Padam Giri of CPN (UML) suggested the government forward the vaccination program in a systematic way, saying every sector of the country has been facing many problems due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
He shared, “Government should bring relief and resettlement programs for the landslide and flood victims taking shelter at neighboring houses. Do not disappoint the landless squatters. The incumbent government should not make the programs of development and prosperity started by the erstwhile government affected with the intension of revenge.”
Similarly, Dibyamani Rajbhandari of the Nepali Congress suggested making the appointment to the post of Deputy-Speaker which has remained vacant for a long and to make the reinstated parliament and parliamentarians active.
He further said, “Let’s form an all-party committee in order to take programs effectively for the prevention of COVID-19 infection. The cabinet should get full shape soon.”
Likewise, Yashoda Subedi of the CPN (Maoist Centre) asked the government to forward reconstruction and relief programs in a planned way in Manang district, where landslide and flood made heavy destruction this year.
Pramod Shah of the Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal called for forwarding the Bill Related to Citizenship in the parliament at the earliest by forging consensus among the political parties as its delay has caused many inconveniences to many people.
“Many citizens are facing problems like the issue of the bill which was raised three years back immediately after the parliamentary election has not been finalized till date.
This issue needs to be sorted out at the earliest,” he said.
Prem Suwal of the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party complained that several people who had taken the first dose of COVID-19 shots have not received the second dose due to the apathy of the government.
“The physicians working at the frontline in the fight against COVID-19 have not received their insurance amount for long and in time.
Although medicines and health logistics have reached the hospitals in remote areas, they have not been able to deliver effective services for lack of the required human resources. The government should pay attention to these issues,” he reiterated.
