KATHMANDU: The prolonged shortage of cooking gas has made daily life increasingly difficult for the general public, with the crisis continuing for nearly a month.
As the government has failed to ensure a smooth supply of cooking gas, hotels in Kathmandu have also begun shutting down. Against this backdrop, students affiliated with the Nepali Communist Party’s sister organisation Nepal National Independent Students’ Union (Revolutionary) staged a demonstration at the southern gate of Singha Durbar on Wednesday, demanding an immediate end to the shortage.
Carrying gas cylinders, the students protested to highlight the difficulties being faced by students and the general public due to the shortage.
They urged the government to take immediate steps to resolve the cooking gas crisis and ensure adequate supplies in the market.
The protesters also called on the government to control black-marketing and prevent the creation of artificial shortages of cooking gas.
