170 households provided free solar plants in Thulibheri- 9



DOLPA: One hundred and seventy households at Thulibheri municipality-9 in Dolpa have been provided with free solar plants.

The households of Motipur and Dangibada and other settlements got free solar plants under the Karnali Ujjyalo Programme (KAP).

According to ward chair Viramal Kumar Bhandari, the local government contributed two million rupees, and five million rupees was supported by the Karnali Province Chief Minister and Council of Ministers’ Office to undertake the solar panel installation project.

The 200-watt solar panels and batteries of 150 Ah were distributed to the people as per their needs.

The Thulibheri-9 folks dependent on the Dunai-based Jairigad Hydro Electric Project for electricity were facing hours-long power outage. Now, their access to solar energy is expected to be a respite for them.

Each household gets the plant that had cost Rs 39,500 including transport charge under the KAP.

One of the beneficiaries Suna Pukari Kathayat said she was happy to get the solar plant free of cost when they were deprived of a reliable source of electricity.
