KATHMANDU: A 16-member team from Bahrain is heading to Mt Everest basecamp from Kathmandu on Monday to climb the world’s highest peak.
Prince of Bahrain, Sheikh Mohamed Hamad Mohamed al-Khalifa, who is currently in Kathmandu, along with his team, said they are excited to climb Mt Everest on a 79-day expedition.
Speaking to Khabarhub in Kathmandu Friday, he said that they have done strict isolation procedures and all the team members have been vaccinated before they arrived in Kathmandu, and strict quarantine after they arrived here.
“We are happy to be back in Nepal. Our last visit was amazing,” Prince Khalifa said adding, “I am very positive that my team and I will look forward to doing something really good this time as well.”
Earlier, the team including Prince Khalifa had scaled the 8,163-meter-high peak Mt Manaslu at 6:10 am on October 15, 2020.
Likewise, the team also climbed the 6,119-meter-high Mt Lobuche at 8:50 on October 3, 2020, in the second ascent of the season.
Seven Summit Treks is making necessary arrangements for the team to stay in Nepal for 79 days. ‘
The team is serving in the Bahrain Defense Force, according to the Nepali Embassy in Bahrain.
The team landed in Kathmandu on Monday aboard a Bahrain Defense Force military ship.
