Gurjo saplings to be planted at vacant spaces in Pashupati area

KATHMANDU: A campaign to plant gurjo (tinospora cordifolia) has been expedited at vacant spaces in Pashupati Area. Gurjo, used as an herbal potion, is believed to develop immunity power in the human body.

The gurjo plantation campaign has begun in the Pashupati area last Saturday this year. Out of the saplings of gurjo planted last year, 1,500 have grown up, said campaigner Kamal Bahadur Rajalawat.

Around 600 seedlings have been planted at the places including Pashupati Area Development Trust premises on Saturday and Wednesday.

Similarly, saplings of gurjo would also be planted at vacant spaces in the Pashupati area including Bankali, Kailashdanda, Mrigasthali, Guheshwori, Dhurbasthali, Bhandarkhal, and Sifal on coming Saturday.

Campaigner Rajalawat, former joint-secretary and Yoga teacher Kishor Joshi and Trust’s office-bearers and employees are active in the campaign.

Rajalawat, active in the campaign to plant gurjo saplings from the first lockdown following COVID-19, has given continuity to the campaign this year too.

A total of 4,000 gurjo saplings have been planted with the start of the rainy season this year with his participation.

Rajalawat had distributed 160,000 saplings of gurjo free of cost across the nation last year.

Gurjo saplings have been planted at the National Ayurvedic Research and Training Centre, Kirtipur, Dhulikhel hospital ground, Manohara river bank, and war memorial park, Kirtipur, this year.

A program has been set to plant gurjo saplings along both sides of the Bagmati river from Tinkune bridge to Sankhamul this Saturday. RSS
