ANFA reaches agreement with Gangalal hospital for treatment of footballers



KATHMANDU: All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) and Shahid Gangalal National Heart Centre on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) regarding the Pre-Competition Medical Assessment treatment of footballers.

ANFA President Karma Tsering Sherpa and Gangalal Hospital’s Executive Director Chandra Mani Adhikari signed and exchanged the MOU during a program at Gangalal Hospital today.

As per MOU, Gangalal Hospital will conduct the test of players to assess the condition of players’ hearts. ANFA will help and coordinate with Gangalal Hospital for the study and research in sports cardiology.

The agreement covers players of all age groups of men’s and women’s national teams and players from ANFA Academy.

Speaking at the program, Gangalal Hospital’s Executive Director Chandra Mani Adhikari said such agreement was first of its kind in the country. “No one has done any research on the state of players’ hearts in the country. We hope we can use our expertise and experience and improve the health state of players’ in the country,” said Adhikari.

ANFA President Shera said for a player staying fit is one of the most important aspects in football. “For a player to remain fit, his heart should be in prime condition. We hope this coordination with Gangalal Hospital will improve the player’s health condition,” said Sherpa.

Following the agreement, 20 players underwent the test today itself. Deep Karki, Ajit Bhandari, Devendra Tamang, Erik Bista, Nawayug Shrestha, Sujal Shrestha, Bishal Rai, Suraj BK, Ashish Lama, Tridev Gurung, Tshring Gurung, Darshan Gurung, Ishan Khadka, Sanjok Rai, Ravi Shankar Paswan, Palsang Lama and Ranjeet Dhimal underwent the test at the hospital on Tuesday.

ANFA Vice President Upendra Man Singh, General Secretary Indraman Tuladhar and other executive committee members and officials and doctors from Gangalal Hospital were also present in the program.
