KATHMANDU: The Tatopani border point, one of Nepal’s major gateways for trade with China, has remained obstructed for more than three weeks due to landslides, bringing cross-border imports and exports to a halt.
Chief Customs Officer at the Tatopani Customs Office, Dipendra Prakash Giri, said landslides at several locations have disrupted Nepal-China trade.
“Roads leading to the border point are blocked, preventing cargo containers from China from entering Nepal,” Giri said.
He added that there is currently no certainty as to when the road will be reopened, leaving the movement of goods between the two countries suspended.
