Minister Badu calls for climate change focused program to avoid crisis

KATHMANDU: Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dilendra Prasad Badu underscored the need for special programs which aim at minimizing risks of climate change.

At a programme organized by the Nepali Congress (NC) Kailali district on Saturday, Minister Badu said since the country was hardest hit by the climate crisis, there must be some special program addressing it. Warning that countries like Nepal could suffer a huge loss in future, the Minister argued that the government should attach great importance to the programs related to climate change.

He pledged relief distribution to the flood, landslide and inundation survivors including the farmers, and assured immediate relief to the farmers whose crops were hugely damaged in the recent series of unseasonal torrential rain.

According to him, the government would consider taking foreign assistance to provide respite to the farmers who were hardest hit by rain-induced disasters in the country in the recent days. He shared that he had taken cognizance of the damage by the disasters in Sudurpaschim Province.
