19 people arrested with drugs in Kapilvastu



KAPILVASTU: Police have arrested 19 people in 11 drug-related cases in Kapilvastu from the beginning of the current fiscal year.

According to the District Police Office, Kapilvastu, the suspects were arrested while carrying or transporting illegal drugs, including some who were found concealing the substances on their bodies while crossing border checkpoints.

Of those arrested, 13 are men and six are women, all Nepali citizens, police said. During the period, police seized 130 grams of marijuana, five kilograms of hashish, 225 grams of heroin, an additional 3.15 grams of heroin, and 10 kilograms and 364 grams of opium. Police also confiscated 10 units of Nitravet.

Ripendra Kumar Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, said legal action has been initiated against those involved in drug trafficking in accordance with prevailing laws.

Police have recently intensified surveillance and security checks along border areas to curb drug trafficking and related activities.
