Police nab four people for abducting Jha couple



JANAKPURDHAM: The police have arrested four persons allegedly involved in the abduction of Musafir Jha and his wife, Gita Devi, of Pipara-5 of Mahottari.

The police organized a press meet and made public the arrested in Mahottari Sunday.

The arrested have been identified as Rambabu Yadav, 52, of Pipara-5 of Mahottari, his sons Surendra Yadav, 26, and Rajendra Yadav, 24, and Harendra Thakur, an Indian national currently residing in Banauli, Mahottari.

Mahottari Superintendent of Police (SP) Dinesh Acharya said all four were involved in the incident.

“Even though they have denied involvement in the abduction, our investigation has confirmed their involvement,” said SP Acharya. “Evidence has also been recovered from the accused’s house.”

He said police investigation revealed that the Jha couple was pressured to sell their land. After the couple denied to sell their land, the four had abducted the couple.

The Jha couple was abducted on the night of February 22.

Despite the police claiming that those involved in the incident have been arrested, the whereabouts of the Jha couple is still unknown.

SP Acharya further said the arrested have yet to reveal where they had kept the couple.
