Landslide blocks Mechi Highway



ILAM: The vehicular movement has been disrupted after landslides occurred at various places along the Mechi Highway.

The landslides occurred at different places including Gumbadanda, Chhyarchhyare and Chhipitar in Ilam municipality due to incessant rains since Monday.

Passengers from Jhapa to Taplejung and vice versa have been stranded after the landslides blocked the Highway.

Similarly, the concrete bridge built over the Deumai River has been swept away.

Durga Bahadur Karki of District Traffic Police Office said preparations are underway to resume the transportation by removing the debris.
