Flood Forecasting Division warns of flash floods in four provinces



KATHMANDU: The monsoon has caused rainfall all over the country and heavy rains have been predicted in places of Province 1, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces Saturday.

According to the Flood Forecast Division (FFD), the flow of water in the Koshi, Karnali, and Mahakali rivers and their tributaries will increase on Saturday. Citing the high flow of water, the division urged people to stay alert in the areas from where the rivers and their tributaries flow.

People living on the banks of Kankai, West Rapti, Babai and tributaries have been warned.

According to FFD, there is moderate risk of floods in Ilam, Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Dhankuta, Udayapur, Bhojpur and Sankhuwasabha districts of Province 1 today. Similarly, the risk of floods in Bara, Parsa, Rautahat and Sarlahi of Province 2 is also moderate.

In Bagmati Province, the risk of floods is high in Dolakha, Ramechhap, Rasuwa and Sindhupalchowk of Bagmati province. FFD alerted that Gorkha, Manang, Parbat, Baglung, Myagdi and Nawalpur of Gandaki Province also face high risk while Lamjung, Kaski, Tanahu and Syangja face medium risk.

In Lumbini Province, Nawalparasi (West), Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, Arghakhanchi, Dang, Banke, Bardiya, Palpa and Dailekh and in Karnali Province Dailekh, Jajarkot, Kalikot and Jumla are at high risk while the risk in Surkhet and Salyan is moderate.

Similarly, Sudurpaschim’s Kanchanpur, Kailali, Bajura, Bajhang and Darchula are at high risk and Dadeldhura, Baitadi, Doti and Achham face moderate risk of floods.
