NA to build helipad with night landing facility in Surkhet

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Army (NA) is set to build a helipad with night-landing facility keeping in mind possible disaster-related rescue and management in Surkhet district.

The NA built six helipads in Surkhet district but the district does not have a single helipad where helicopters can land at night. “This has adversely affected rescue efforts in the district,” said Sabuj Battalion Chief Lieutenant Colonel Krishna Kanchan Basnet at Simkharkha Barracks.

The NA will build the helipad with the financial support of Sharada Municipality on the premises of Sabuj Battalion. The municipality will extend an assistance of Rs 500,000 to build the helipad with night landing facility.
