India helps Nepal with 150 ICU beds to fight Covid-19

KATHMANDU: The Government of India has provided 150 ICU beds to Nepal for the prevention and control of COVID-19.

Indian Ambassador to Nepal Vinay Mohan Kwatra handed over the ICU beds to Law Minister Gyanendra Bahadur Karki at a program organized at the Ministry of Health Sunday. Stating that India and Nepal share centuries-old ties, Ambassador Kwatra said India was doing its best to help the Nepali people tackle Covid-19 crisis. He also recalled India-provided medical supplies in the past as well.

Law Minister Karki lauded India’s support to Nepal in the fight against Covid-19 and hoped that India’s commitment and exchange would reinforce and continue the historic relationship between the two nations. Karki also hoped India would facilitate procurement of vaccines against Covid-19 from India. One million doses of Covisheild vaccine purchased by Nepal has yet to be released.
