Tauktae cyclone causing rain in west; to gradually surge towards east



KATHMANDU: A powerful cyclone called Tauktae formed in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea is gradually having an impact in Nepal from Tuesday morning.

The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has said the cyclone Tauktae made landfall Monday night and causing rain in the western region of the country.

“Currently, the weather is generally cloudy across the country. This weather pattern is gradually surging towards east. Light rain is occurring in some places in the western region,” said the MFD.

The westerly wind and the powerful cyclone Tauktae blowing from the Eastern Mediterranean Sea are causing impact in the weather system of the country.

According to a weather bulletin issued by the MFD, the weather will remain generally to fully cloudy across the country today, with chances of light rain amidst thunderstorms in some hilly areas of Karnali Pradesh and Sudurpaschim Pradesh.

Similarly, light to moderate snowfall is expected in high mountainous regions.
